Want to put the mattress on the floor?

Most people get a bed. What if you don’t want to spend on a bed? What if you have severe back pain and consider sleeping on the floor? What if you don’t have the time to set up a bed? For many reasons and many people, throwing a mattress on the floor and sleeping on it might seem like a good idea.

If you want to regularly use your mattress on the floor, we suggest regular upkeep to protect it from wear and tear. So here are some valuable tips for keeping your mattress on the floor.

Tip 1: Keep your floor squeaky clean always.

The bed helps your mattress get sufficient airflow and stay dry. On the floor, your mattress’s airflow is minimal. We release sweat and oils while we sleep, and this moisture trapped in your mattress without proper airflow can cause moulding. Throw some bed bugs and flesh-eating bacteria into the mix, and we have ourselves a real mess. Mould is dangerous, but it also has a funky smell and triggers allergic reactions like trouble breathing or itchy skin. To prevent disaster before it strikes, always vacuum, dust, and disinfect the area beneath and around your mattress. We also recommend getting your mattress professionally clean once in a while.

Tip 2: Keep your mattress on the furnished floor.

Set up your mattress on hardwood floors, tatami flooring, tile, or synthetic rugs and carpet.

Tip 3: Use a barrier between your mattress and the floor.

Use a barrier, such as a piece of cardboard, a blanket, a protector, or a foam mat, between your mattress and the ground. This will helps preserve the condition of your mattress.

Sleeping on the floor is not everyone’s cup of tea. However, it’s an excellent option for some people, especially those struggling with back pain issues. If you use your mattress on the floor, take the necessary precautions to be sure that you are protecting yourself and your mattress.
